Someone Was Here for Mac. macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Write to us and a person will answer, usually within two days:
It helps to include your macOS version and what you saw. Please don't send photos of other people.
It took a photo of me and said it wasn't me
Open the visit from the menu bar and choose That Was Me…. The photo is added to Recognize Me, so faces like it stop sending alerts. If it happens often, open Settings › Recognize Me and choose Add More Photos in the light and position you usually sit in, then Test Me Again.
Alerts aren't reaching my phone
Open Settings › Alerts and click Send Test Alert next to the service you use. The message under the button says what went wrong, for example a mistyped key or an ntfy topic that needs an access token. Alerts that can't be sent while your Mac is offline go out when it reconnects.
It doesn't take photos at the lock screen
Check that Someone uses the lock screen is on in Settings › General, and that camera access is on in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera. Turn on Open at login so it's running after a restart.
Can it take photos without the camera light?
No. The light is wired to the camera on every Mac, and the app wouldn't hide it if it could.
Where are my photos?
Only on your Mac, plus whatever you send to your own alert service. Settings › Privacy shows how long visits are kept and has Delete All Visits. The privacy policy has the details.
Someone at my Mac could open the app and delete their visit
Your phone already has the alert. Also, after someone else is seen, the menu bar panel and Settings need your Touch ID until the app recognizes you again (Settings › General).
